Students will be prepared to work in an office environment and pursue further post-secondary education after completing this 36-hour, 4.2 weeks program with 18 modules. It is comprised of 36 hours of on-demand in-class, hybrid, or distance learning modules. Students will participate in a two-week practicum after completing the program. They will be able to apply the skills and concepts they have acquired in a professional office setting to enhance their employability.
Learning Objectives:
- Advancement of essential skills in reading/writing, numeracy and document handling as it pertains to an office environment.
- Successful completion of modules: BUS040 – Introduction to Professional Communication, ACC050– Bookkeeping & Computer Applications, BUS060– Fundamentals of Business.
- Development of key employability skills in time management, public speaking, interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, accounting, marketing, human resources and organizational culture.
Teaching Methods:
Student learning will be through a combination of staff contact hours with the lecturer in the classroom, intended learning hours, and self-managed study. The staff contact hours will involve a range of learning approaches including group exercises, workshops, guided individual activities and lecturer presentations.
